The continuous short line segment processing method in CNC machining has the defect of frequent fluctuation feedrate, which affects quality and efficiency. For this problem, local global methods are common solutions. is to insert transition curves at corners obtain a smooth toolpath, but does not essentially reduce number accelerations decelerations, it difficult between tiny straight sections. Although can tool trajectories, parametric interpolation suitable for middle- low-end machine tools. article proposes an adaptive path generation with original part contour as research object discretizes NURBS into trajectories consisting large segments lines circular arcs. mimics crawling characteristics snakes designs double-headed snake algorithm based on least squares implement process. First, given start end points curve, two snakeheads search maximum linear that satisfy error constraint curve direction. winner will then be selected candidate track through competition mechanism. Finally, all trajectory connected path. Experiments show toolpath data paper reduced by 75.56% compared commercial CAM software when threshold same, more than one order magnitude equal.
